I Think I Can

Well now that grades are posted, I suppose I am an official CSUS Alumni :)

My last semester's grades aren't too shabby either. I got two A's, a B and Credit for my internship. Wow, did I really only have four (well idk if my internship counts, but it did require plenty of hours) classes? Sure did feel like a busier semester!

Never again will I receive a grade for a class. Unless, of course, I decide to do some post-graduate education - which is sort of out of the picture at the time being.

Eeek... it's finally sinking in! And the stress is accumulating. Seriously! So much to do, so little time, so many big changes. What was that thing that The Little Engine That Could said? Oh ya... "I think I can, I think I can..." :)

Last Single Sibling

Congratulations to my little brother and new sister-in-law! The two got hitched this weekend :)

The wedding was beautiful. The ceremony was so special (my sis-in-law's grandpa was the officiant - so cute!). The bride was stunning. The company was enjoyable. The food was delicious. The cake was a piece of art. The decorations were classy. The music was fun. The family and friends were proud. But most importantly, the newlyweds were SO HAPPY.

Aren't they just adorable?!

And those two being wed means that I am the last single sibling of the four (as people continually point out). At one point during the reception, Beyonce's "Single Ladies" came on and my mom yelled, "Rose, it's your song!" Yes, that really happened.

Gotta Keep Your Head Up

I just love this song by Andy Grammer. Any time I get down or in a bad mood, I just turn this song on and it picks me right back up!

Double bonus: Dwight (Rainn Wilson) from The Office makes a cameo in the video. If seeing him doesn't immediately make you smile, I don't know what does!

A few of my favorite lines from the lyrics:

Only rainbows after rain
The sun will always come again.
It's a circle, circling
Around again, it comes around again.

And of course, the chorus:

I know it's hard, know it's hard,
To remember sometimes,
But you gotta keep your head up, oh,
And you can let your hair down, eh.

:) So true! And doesn't it just make you happy?!

Peace

My grandparents are visiting from Texas this week and we all went downtown to take a lovely walk around the Capitol. My grandma's favorite part was the rose gardens, where we stumbled across some inspiring poems written by some brilliant youngsters.

Peace is initially established
through the love of friends
but is cemented in society
through the love of enemies

NO FIGHTING
NO TEARS
NO ANGER
NO PAIN
NO FEAR
NO GUNS
NO HATE
NO WAR
JUST SMILE
JUST JOY
JUST HUGS
JUST LOVE
JUST HOPE
JUST HAPPINESS
JUST NIRVANA
JUST PEACE

Very impressive insight from a couple of teenagers!

I did it!

I'm no longer an undergraduate! I have my BA... Bachelor of Arts... Bad. Ass :)

What a wonderful day of celebrations! I got a little emotional this weekend after thinking about how fortunate I am to have the BEST family and friends a girl could ask for. Seriously, I cannot get over how lucky I am. There were so many people that showed up to support me from all over California and even Texas!

I drove to Power Balance Pavilion/Arco Arena with my sister, brother-in-law and fellow graduate, Sarah. We got there a bit early to have some celebratory champagne. It was a FABULOUS idea :)

College of Arts and Letters, Class of 2011 - woop woop!!

After the ceremony we headed to my parents' place in Roseville where we had a barbeque with all the loved ones. The party was so poppin' that we stayed there until 1 am, even after the parents went to bed ;)

Thanks again to everyone that made the day perfect! I could not have asked for a better commencement, party or support system. You all make me feel so special and I love you!

Crafty With My Cappy

I know my last gazillion posts have mentioned the fast-approaching college graduation and now the time is finally here - it's graduation week!! Among my list of to do's: finish assignments, study for finals, complete internship, celebratory stuff ;), look for housing, apply for jobs, find a career, figure out my life, blah blah blah... I need to prioritize! First things first: Decorate my cap!

A few of my fellow graduate girls and I decided we needed one last hoorah before celebrating together on the biggest accomplishment achieved thus far in our lives; graduation! So we had a fun little party to decorate our caps together. Good food, good wine, good company = a GREAT time!

Voila!

(My cap pre-flower. I accidentally misplaced the 2011 constructed from rhinestones, one tiny little effer at a time! I wasn't about to start over, so I decided I'd put a pretty little flower to even things out)

What do you think? I'm happy with the outcome and I think it suits me well :) Now... four days! I better kick this cold because I refuse to feel less than 100% on my big day!

Puppy Sitting

A few of my friends headed to Vegas for the weekend and left me all by my lonesome. I opted to stay home to study for my finals (woo party over here!). One of them leaving meant a certain someone needed a friend.

Meet Beefy, the pup I got to watch Thurs-Sun :)

Look how tiny! I'm in love.

So adorable!

Me + Beefy = BFF's forever ♥

Isn't he just the cutest?! Beefy boy and I had so much fun! Please dear friend of mine, go back on vaca so I can play with beloved pup some more!

Community for a Cause: For the Love of Angie

Written by Marketing Intern Rose Provine

I grew up in a small community of about 7,000 people in Northern California. Although I have grown up and moved away, Corning will always hold a special place in my heart. Corning is small town where everyone knows everyone, but most importantly, they all support one another.

Recently, I have been touched by a story about one local resident and the outpour of help and hope that my small hometown has provided.

Angie Salado, 32, was was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor on December 20, 2010. For the Love of Angie is a fundraising team that strives to help raise money to assist Salado and family with medical and travel expenses.

There is a benefit for Salado on May 21, 2011 at the Paskenta Hall in Paskenta, located just outside of Corning. Tickets in advance are $20 and $25 at the door (children are $8 and $10). There will be a dinner, dance, raffle and auction. Every item has been generously donated by local individuals and companies who want to help Salado with her fight against this tumor. What I find phenomenal, is that nearly 100 percent of businesses in Corning have donated.

Salado's mother, Jani Franer, recently told Channel 12 News Reporter, Derek Demo, that the long road ahead is going to be a difficult one, but the community has given her hope even when she feels there is none left. "People care, in a world that seems like sometimes they don't, they still do," said Franer.

A Facebook page has been created for Salado, and the number of people offering kind words and support for Angie and her family is heartwarming. Her story was even featured on local Channel 12 News.

For more information or to make a donation, visit http://www.facebook.com/pages/For-the-Love-of-Angie/119188018156515?sk=wall

Until then, may the entire Salado family be in your thoughts.

Wee Bit Wednesday

As the end of school is near and the assignments are abundant, I've found myself procrastinating in every way possible. One way I do this is by reading blogs galore. I recently found this blog, which has provided me with some entertaining ways to procrastinate. This clever girl created "wee bit wednesdays," a fun little survey offered every Wednesday. Love this idea! And here it goes, my very first wee bit wednesday...

{one} when was the last time you used a pay phone (if ever)?
I think when I was a freshman or sophomore at my old high school - I can't believe I remember that!

{two} did you ever fail a subject in school?
Never! Well, I did get a D in my Biology class my first semester of college :(

{three} where do you go to get your favorite hamburger/cheeseburger?

I don't think I have a favorite place, burgers are good everywhere :) My favorite fast food burger joint would definitely be In-N-Out though!

{four} have you ever served jury duty?
Negative. I've never even been called in for it. I hope this lucky streak continues.

{five} how old were you when you moved out of your parents’ house?
I moved out at 18 and have been living on my own since.

{six} what is your favorite color to wear?
I don't know if I have a favorite, but black is slimming so... maybe that ;)

{seven} do you have a pair of shoes that you wear all the time?
Yes, but not because I have so many and they're my favorite, but because I'm a poor, cheap college student. Not for long?!! (fingers crossed)

{eight} do you enjoy talk radio?
I used to in the mornings when I would drive to school, but I no longer drive there so I haven't in quite some time.

{nine} if you could turn one unhealthy food into a healthy one, what food would it be?
This question is too hard because I love all food.

{ten} who is the best speaker you’ve ever heard in person?
I would choose a motivational speaker, but since I haven't heard any in person before, my answer is N/A.
